As far as Sydney Italian restaurants go, we think we’re as good as any. If our clientele is anything to go by then we’re maybe even number one.

You see, our Italian restaurant is where the elite come to do deals. The cream of Australia’s business, media and arts communities meet for some fine Italian food and to get business done. But they won’t come to just any Italian restaurant.

Established in 1988 it has long been one of Sydney’s premier lunch time dining experiences, also recently opening its doors for dinner, “As well as constant requests from our regular lunchtime clientele that we should open for dinner Monday to Friday, we felt that Machiavelli would also appeal to the growing number of city residents,” explained Giovanna Toppi, who runs Machiavelli with her daughter, Caterina.

“It’s easy to see that the Sydney CBD is going through a major profile change with more and more people now residing in the city in large apartment blocks,” she said. “Machiavelli will hopefully attract a lot of regulars from city dwellers.”

Italian Dining At Its Best

Australia has a great tradition of fine Italian cuisine due to the huge number of Italians who have made their homes here. That tradition shines through in the Sydney Italian restaurant scene of which Machiavelli is maybe the most famous example.

We opened in 1988 as an Italian family run restaurant. Pretty soon we started attracting the cream of Australia’s business and media scenes who come here almost every day to be seen and dine on our great food. The rest is history, but the roots of our restaurant remain firmly planted in genuine fine Italian dining delivered by people who live and breath Italian cuisine.

Our wait staff have made this restaurant their life and many have been here since we opened. That’s because they are as passionate about Italian food and cooking as we are.
